We carefully match each puppy with their new family based on your lifestyle, preferences, and what you are looking for in your new fur baby. This is why our puppy application is so important. We want to learn as much as possible about you and your family to ensure our puppies are placed in the best possible environment — for both you and the puppy.

Puppy selections take place at 6 weeks of age and are made in the order deposits are received and according to your position on our waitlist. We schedule selections at this age because the puppies’ personalities are beginning to emerge and their coat color is becoming more defined.

At Kler English Setters, we always reserve the right to first pick of the litter if we decide to retain a puppy for our breeding program. If you hold first pick (male or female) for a current litter, you will be notified in advance should we choose to exercise this option.

Puppy contracts will be sent and are to be signed on puppy pick day. 

Our puppies go home at 8 weeks of age.

Picking Up Your Puppy

 We encourage families to fly to Michigan, arrange a professional ground pet transport service, or even plan a road trip to personally pick up their puppy. We truly love meeting our new puppy families and believe that puppies are happiest and most relaxed when traveling home with their new owners by their side.
We will not ship puppies by plane in cargo!  

We do allow our puppies to fly home with you in the cabin as a carry-on. We highly recommend booking a first-class seat, as it provides additional space and comfort for both you and your puppy during travel.

We are happy to meet you at the Traverse City airport free of charge. If you prefer to fly into Grand Rapids, Detroit, or Lansing, we are more than willing to meet you there; however, a $300 travel fee will apply to cover our transportation costs.

We also offer the option to personally accompany your puppy to you. All travel expenses are the responsibility of the buyer. “Shipping” in this case includes a round-trip airfare: a one-way ticket for the breeder to travel with the puppy to your location, and a return ticket for the breeder to fly back home.

The buyer is responsible for covering the full cost of these flights, as well as any related travel expenses.
 You can choose a pick up date between 8-9 weeks of age for flying.  We will contact you to schedule a date that will work for us and you.
